Hey there! I'm Taylor Huston, an enterprise systems and automation engineer. I help teams untangle messy workflows and build systems that make the work easier instead of becoming a second job. Convinced that most meetings could have been an email.

For most of the last decade, that has meant a lot of Jira and Confluence, but the work has never been only about Atlassian. I've also worked on ITSM platforms, SaaS governance, internal tools, workflow automation, API integrations and a lot of documentation. The tools change, but the job is usually the same: understand how people actually work, figure out where things are breaking down and build something better around them.

Most recently, I was a Staff IT Engineer on the Collaboration Tools team at Webflow, supporting the Atlassian Suite, Google Workspace, Slack and other shared SaaS systems in a remote-first company.

Before that, I spent five and a half years as a Staff Application Engineer at Aurora, where I helped scale systems, tools and processes as the company grew from a roughly 500 person startup to a nearly 2,000 person company. Prior to Aurora, I spent several years at an Atlassian Platinum Solution Partner in Seattle, working with clients ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.

Lately, I've also been focused on practical ways to use AI in internal tools and workflow automation. I've been building with coding agents, experimenting with better ways to give them context and verify their work, and looking for places where AI can reduce repetitive work without removing human judgment or accountability.

I'm based in Pittsburgh and looking for senior or staff roles in corporate IT automation, enterprise systems, workflow platforms, internal tools or applied AI. The titles vary. What matters to me is getting to understand a problem, design a practical solution and help people successfully use it.

Off the clock, you can find me outside taking pictures, inside dabbling on side projects, or spending entirely too much time reading tech news and blogs. I believe in continuous learning, and am always looking for new ways to expand my knowledge and skills.

Want to connect, see how I might be an asset to your team, or just pick my brain? I'm always down to chat!

Testimonials
Anthony de Cossio

"Taylor served as our Atlassian SME on the Collaboration Technology team within IT Operations, and his depth across Jira and Confluence made him an impactful global administrator, resolving technical issues while architecting the company’s Projects and Spaces for optimal performance. Beyond that core strength, he drove software evaluations with a sharp focus on real business value, always weighing tools by how well they’d serve our user base and the function they’d serve in our environment. Taylor pairs strong technical skill with genuine strategic thinking and functional ownership, and any team would be lucky to have him."

"I had the pleasure of working with Taylor for the entirety of his tenure at Aurora. We collaborated on several projects, and I was always impressed with his ability to translate complex, and sometimes vague technical requirements into defined, implementable items, as well as his overall attitude and willingness to go above and beyond what his official job duties were. I highly recommend Taylor for any role requiring a blend of technical proficiency and creative problem-solving!"

"Working with you at Aurora was a consistently positive experience. Your expertise in the Atlassian ecosystem stood out, not just in terms of technical skills, but also in how thoughtfully you approached the evolving needs of the organization during a period of rapid growth.

From a TPM perspective, I really appreciated how seamlessly we partnered to streamline tools and workflows across multiple teams. Whether it was navigating the Uber ATG Jira migration or aligning stakeholders around standardized practices, your ability to translate technical complexity into clear, actionable solutions made collaboration effective and efficient.

You were proactive in identifying tool limitations, provided realistic assessments of scope and impact, and balanced short-term requirements with long-term sustainability. Your work on incident management and integrations directly contributed to improved operational maturity, and I always valued your focus on usability and scalability."

"I’ve had the privilege to work with Taylor as a peer, collaborator, and employee. At Aurora Innovation Taylor was a key member of the team responsible for Jira, the Atlassian product suite, and other resources in support of enabling robust productivity for the company. His ability to dive deeper into customer requirements and deliver an effective solution are the cornerstone of his work ethic. Taylor helps educate and elevate the team around him. I highly recommend Taylor if you have the opportunity for him to join your team!"

"Working with Taylor across a variety of projects was a great experience. Taylor has a deep knowledge of Atlassian products, but is not limited to working within that vertical. We collaborated on projects that touched multiple systems, from ERP to custom web applications, and in each case Taylor was quick to pick up stakeholder requirements and execute on them. When necessary, he was always willing to go deep into the weeds of the business processes behind these tools in order to ensure he delivered the best solution.

When Taylor was handed a critical set of in-house tools to own after another employee's departure, he quickly set to work to stabilize the codebase despite being completely unfamiliar with it. He not only was able to keep these tools operational, but made key changes on backend and frontend that made them more resilient and user-friendly. He also provided clear and concise documentation, which has allowed us to smoothly transition ownership and build on his work."

"I have had the pleasure of working with and watching Taylor grow as he has advanced in his career. From the start I have found him creative in his solutioning, and focused on delivering a stable, quality platform for the users of the systems.

I’ve seen him grow his technical depth and set of responsibilities while maintaining those two core elements that I was impressed with when we first started working together. Would gladly work with him again as well as recommend him and his skills."

"I worked on the same team with Taylor for a couple of years. Taylor was always "present". He was open to trying new things; but only with a plan. He didn't want to just dive into something without have a basic conversation first. Taylor was always willing to do the "leg work", eg documenting decisions."

"I had the pleasure of working with Taylor at Aurora, where he served as a mentor during my journey to becoming a Jira administrator. He fostered an open and supportive environment that encouraged learning and experimentation, giving me the confidence to develop my own solutions in a safe staging environment. Taylor consistently emphasized best practices and proper processes to help prevent critical issues and data loss. Even when I made mistakes, he treated them as valuable learning opportunities and guided me through them with patience and insight.

Working with Taylor was an incredibly positive experience, and the knowledge and skills I gained from him continue to benefit me in my current role."
