Staff Application Engineer Oct 2019 - Present
Aurora is a relatively new company and a leader in the Autonomous Vehicle Space. I was originally hired as the primary Atlassian SME, managing the organization's on-prem Jira and Confluence instances. I have since bounced within the company, worn many hats, and I am currently the most senior Application Engineer within a team known as Enterprise Applications. We're a small team that manages all of the tools that the rest of the company uses to get their work done. This includes the Atlassian tools, Salesforce, Workday, Coupa, and a few others. My responsibilties include:

  • Serving as the Senior SME for the Atlassian tools, while expanding expertise to additional enterprise tools such as Coupa and NetSuite.
  • Creating and enforcing the policies, guidelines and best practices around the Atlassian tools for the entire company.
  • Managing the AWS infrastructure for the Atlassian tools, leveraging Terraform to implement scalable, cost-effective infrastructure as code.
  • Owning and maintaining a custom web application that servers as an abstraction layer and interface between our Jira and other enterprise applications.
  • Acting in a Technical Lead Manager (TLM) capacity, driving team initiatives and project success, despite not holding the formal title.
  • Working with organization stakeholders to define business requirements and processes and design solutions using our portfolio of applications to meet those requirements.
  • Providing direction on technical projects, helping to manage timelines, scope effort and prioritize different asks.

Senior Atlassian Engineer Jul 2016 - Oct 2019
Originally a company called Equip that was later aquired by Contegix. Equip was an Atlassian Platinum Partner, meaning we consulted and provided support on the Atlassian tools for other companies or organizations. After the acquisition by Contegix this work remianed largely the same, with an extra emphasis on the existing customers who used Contegix hosted Atlassian tools. While there I:

  • Delivered consulting services for Atlassian tools to organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies, tailoring solutions to client needs.
  • Implemented Jira automations and customizations using Scriptrunner and Automation for Jira.
  • Designed and deployed on-prem Jira and Confluence instances, primarily on AWS infrastructure.
  • Advised on Atlassian Best Practices and worked with organizations to implement them internally across multiple teams.
  • Provided day-to-day administration and support for client Atlassian environments.
