Staff Application Engineer Oct 2019 - Present
Aurora is a startup working on autonomous vehicle technology. I was originally hired as the primary/sole Atlassian Engineer, managing the organization's on-prem Jira and Confluence instances. I'm currently a Staff Application Engineer, though I believe that a more accurate title would be Staff Solutions Architect, within the Core SRE group acting as the lead of a small team known as Digital Workplace. Some of what I/we do include:

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of three other engineers.
• Scope and plan the sprint, quarter and OKR level work for the Digital Workplace team.
• Create and enforce the policies and best practices around our suite of on-prem and SAAS Atlassian applications.
• Work with organization stakeholders to define business requirements and processes and design solutions to meet their teams.
• Prioritize different asks and needs from different stakeholders to focus on the ones that provide the most value towards Aurora's mission and goals.
• Manage the AWS infrastructure that our on-prem Atlassian applications live on.
• Design, implement and evangelize application monitoring strategies, solutions and best practices

Originally a company called Equip that was later aquired by Contegix. Equip was an Atlassian Platinum Partner, meaning we consulted and provided support on the Atlassian tools for other companies or organizations. After the aquisition by Contegix this work remianed largely the same, with an extra emphasis on the existing customers who used Contegix hosted Atlassian tools.

• Consulted on all things Atlassian from organizations ranging from small startups to Fortune 500 level.
• Worked with clients to understand their business requirements and designed solutions that meet their needs.
• Stood up and configured on-prem Jira and Confluence instances, primarily on AWS infrastructure.
• Advised on Atlassian Best Practices and worked with organizationss to implement them internally across multiple teams.
• Developed complex Jira automations and customizartions utilizing well known Jira Add-Ons, including Automation for Jira and Scriptrunner.
• Acted as front-line application support for Atlassian tools, performing day-to-day administration and maintenance.
